and Field Survey Alpine meets with each client to determine the specific field needs. Once the project goals are determined, Alpine surveys the site with our lasers to build a clear picture of the field area's current conditions. From there, we work with everyone involved to outline which construction techniques, materials, and equipment are best suited to meeting the project goals. Alpine can also accompany customers to meetings with regulatory agents or any other personnel involved in the field improvement process. Regrading (see Shipley Field) Alpine begins every regrading project with a survey of the existing field to determine how much regrading or reshaping is required, and then rebuilds the field to the desired shape. Once the dirt begins to move, Alpine's laser-guided equipment allows us to guarantee the most demanding tolerances in the industry: We guarantee that our fields are accurate to within a quarter of an inch measured over the plane of the field. Alpine is without parallel in the construction and regrading of athletic fields. Stripping and Re-grading, Fraise Mowing When a field needs only minor adjustment, Alpine can use the Koro Field TopMaker (Model FTM200) to make precision repairs. The FTM is designed to strip and remove the top layers of sod and soil to a 2" depth. It can be set for both deep cuts and close shaves, and all spoil is neatly collected during the process! The FTM follows the existing grade of the field precisely, saving time in regrading on an already properly graded field. This is advantageous to those situations when renovation time is limited. The FTM is great for fraise mowing, which removes only the top layer of thatch and weeds, while leaving the root zone stable and in place for further growth and reseeding.
