Name: Coastal Federal Field Client: Myrtle Beach Pelicans Type: High Performance Sand Alpine designed and built the Minor League baseball field at Coastal Federal Stadium for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, a minor league team in South Carolina. This included grading the sub-base, installing the drainage, overseeing the installation of the irrigation system, installing and grading the rootzone mix, installing the infield & basepaths, and overseeing the installation of the sod as well as maintaining the field for six months following the construction. Proper drainage here was a challenging situation since the water table is 18" below the surface of the field. This field received a 17-inch rain during Hurricane Floyd on a Thursday and the team was able to play a minor league baseball game at 7 pm the following night. The field drained exceedingly well and everyone was very proud of it. <<< back |
